Chapter 6 - The Ghost of Elena CrossThe silver flash drive that Daniel had pulled from the porcelain doll in the servant's quarters was now plugged into a secure federal terminal at the Department of Justice field office. Claire stood beside Daniel, her hand resting lightly on his uninjured shoulder, watching the screen as the encrypted files slowly unzipped.

A video file appeared. The timestamp was from exactly four years ago—one week before Elena Cross "fell" from the balcony.

On the screen, a young woman with terrified but determined eyes spoke directly to the camera. "If you are watching this, it means Julian has carried out his threat. He believes I am losing my mind because of the pills his uncle Arthur gives me every night. But I found the secret laboratory logs. The Vancetine compound isn't a drug; it's a tool for hostile corporate takeovers. They test it on their own families first to ensure total compliance. If I die, look at the offshore accounts under the name 'Blackwood Holdings.' That is where they hide the bodies and the money."

Claire let out a long, shuddering breath. "She tried to warn me. Before I married Julian, she sent me a letter, but Arthur intercepted it. They told me she was an unstable ex-fiancée who was obsessed with destroying the family."

"She was a hero," Daniel said softly, removing the drive and locking it into a steel evidence box. "And her evidence is going to ensure that neither Julian nor Arthur ever see the sun again."
