Chapter 5: The Secret That Changed Everything

The following morning, Henry requested Noah's birth records from the family attorney.
An hour later, the elderly lawyer arrived carrying a sealed envelope.
"There is something your late wife instructed me never to reveal..."
Henry stared.
"What?"
The lawyer hesitated.
"The day before she died..."
"...she rewrote her will."
Henry carefully unfolded the final handwritten page.
His late wife's signature rested at the bottom.
Above it were words that made the room spin.
"If anything ever happens to me, I ask that Grace Ellis remain in Noah's life. She has loved my son as though he were her own. I trust her with his happiness more than anyone else."
Henry lowered the letter with trembling hands.
His wife had seen it.
Long before anyone else.
She had known exactly who Grace truly was.
Outside the office window, Grace was kneeling in the garden, laughing softly as Noah chased butterflies across the lawn.
For the first time in years...
