Part 2 Total Warfare

At precisely 9:00 AM the following morning, the dining room was bathed in bright, cheerful sunlight. Doña Victoria sat at the head of the mahogany table, sipping espresso, while Ricardo scanned a tablet, calculating the projected Q3 earnings from Alejandro's stolen logistics company.

The door opened, and Alejandro walked in, still wearing his tactical boots and a crisp civilian shirt. He looked tired, but his posture was rigid. He poured himself a cup of coffee and sat down opposite his brother.

"Morning, hero," Ricardo said without looking up from his screen, his tone dripping with casual condescension. "Elena still locked away in her tower? You really need to get her under control, brother. She's becoming a distraction to the business."

"The business," Alejandro repeated flatly, taking a slow sip of the black coffee. "Which business would that be, Ricardo? The one we built, or the shell corporation you registered in Delaware three weeks ago under a forged military waiver?"

Ricardo’s hand froze over the tablet screen. Doña Victoria lowered her espresso cup, her perfectly drawn eyebrows knitting together in an expression of haughty disapproval. "Alejandro, what nonsense are you talking about? If your brother handled some administrative restructuring while you were playing soldier, you should be thanking him."

"Administrative restructuring," Alejandro murmured. He pulled a thick manila folder from under his arm and slid it across the polished wood table. It struck Ricardo’s tablet with a heavy, definitive thud. "Open it."

Ricardo sneered, flicking the folder open. His smug expression vanished in an instant. The top page was a federal grand jury subpoena, accompanied by a comprehensive forensic audit from the Armed Forces Financial Fraud Protection Task Force. Because Alejandro was an active-duty service member deployed in a combat zone, any unauthorized seizure of his assets, businesses, or property wasn't just a state civil dispute—it was a major federal crime under the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA).

"This... this is a bluff," Ricardo stammered, his face turning a sickly shade of ash gray. "You can't prove any of this. The signatures are notarized."

"The notary you used is currently sitting in a federal holding cell in downtown Miami," Alejandro replied, leaning forward, his eyes locking onto his brother's with predatory stillness. "He cracked after fifteen minutes of interrogation regarding bank fraud. But that's just the financial side."

Alejandro reached out and tapped Ricardo's tablet. The screen automatically switched to a media playback interface, executing a remote command from Alejandro's phone. A video began to play. It was the high-definition footage from the study—showing Ricardo violently grabbing Elena's arm, shaking her, and shoving her against the desk while Doña Victoria stood in the background, coolly adjusting her pearl necklace.

Doña Victoria gasped, her hand flying to her throat. "Alejandro! Delete that immediately! We are your family! You would ruin your own brother’s future for that girl?"

"That girl is my wife," Alejandro said, his voice dangerously quiet, vibrating with an intensity that made the crystal chandelier above them rattle softly. "And you are no longer my family. You are targets."

Right on cue, the heavy iron gates at the front of the estate groaned open. The rhythmic, commanding wail of federal law enforcement sirens echoed down the long driveway. Through the grand dining room windows, three black SUVs marked with federal plates swerved onto the gravel, heavily armed agents spilling out onto the lawn.

Ricardo panicked, pushing his chair back to run toward the rear exit, but Alejandro was faster. Moving with explosive, military precision, he vaulted over the table, grabbed Ricardo by his collar—the very jacket he had stolen—and slammed him face-first onto the mahogany wood, pinning his arm behind his back in a bone-snapping lock. With his free hand, Alejandro effortlessly unlatched his own gold watch from Ricardo’s wrist and slipped it into his pocket.

"The federal marshals are here to execute a felony warrant for conspiracy, wire fraud, and aggravated grand larceny under the military protection act," Alejandro whispered into his brother's ear as Ricardo whimpered in pain. "And I’ve personally handed the state prosecutor the unedited assault footage. You aren't going to a white-collar facility, Ricardo. You're going to a state penitentiary."

Agents burst through the front double doors, weapons drawn, taking defensive positions across the foyer. Doña Victoria began to scream hysterically, her carefully cultivated mask of aristocratic elegance fracturing into ugly, desperate shrieks as an officer stepped forward to click steel handcuffs around her manicured wrists. Ricardo was dragged out off the table, sobbing openly as he was escorted out into the blinding morning light.

Alejandro stood alone in the quiet dining room, the chaos finally clearing out of his house. He took a deep, steadying breath, feeling the heavy weight of the deployment finally leave his shoulders.

He walked back up the stairs, opening the bedroom door. The room was flooded with sunlight now. Elena was standing by the window, wearing a clean shirt, her wavy dark hair caught in the morning breeze. For the first time in six months, when she looked at him, the fear was entirely gone.

Alejandro walked straight over to her, and this time, Elena didn't flinch. She threw her arms around his neck, burying her face into his shoulder as he held her tight against his chest.

"It's over," Alejandro whispered into her hair, his hand gently resting on her back, protecting her from the world outside. "The war is over. We're safe."
