Chapter 8 - The Fall of the House of WhitmoreWith the legal shield firmly in place, Ethan unleashed the final phase of his corporate warfare. He didn't just want to protect Lily; he wanted to ensure that Gerald Whitmore could never hurt anyone again.

Over the next forty-eight hours, Ethan utilized his vast financial network to launch a hostile takeover of the Whitmore Group. As the company’s stock cratered due to the public scandal, Ethan’s shell companies systematically bought up every available share on the open market.

By Wednesday morning, Ethan walked into the Whitmore Group’s skyscraper downtown. He didn't ask for permission. He bypassed security and marched straight into the glass-walled boardroom where Gerald Whitmore sat alone in the dark, staring at a bank of monitors showing his collapsing empire.

Gerald looked up, his eyes bloodshot, his hair disheveled. The proud billionaire looked like a ghost.

"You ruined me," Gerald whispered, his voice raspy. "Everything I built. Three generations of legacy. Destroyed for a bastard child."

"She isn't a bastard," Ethan said, sitting down at the head of the table—the seat that used to belong to Gerald. "She is a little girl who deserved a grandfather, and you gave her a dungeon. You didn't lose your empire because of her, Gerald. You lost it because of your own arrogance."

Ethan slid a document across the table. "This is a restructuring agreement. I now control 51% of the voting shares of the Whitmore Group. As the majority shareholder, my first act is to terminate you as CEO and Chairman, effective immediately. Your assets have been frozen by the FBI due to the bribery and kidnapping investigation."

Gerald stared at the paper, his hands trembling. "I'll fight you in court. I'll tie this up for decades."

"With what money?" Ethan asked quietly. "Your lawyers have already abandoned you because your accounts are locked. And the federal prosecutor just signed your arrest warrant. They're downstairs right now, Gerald. I suggest you walk out with whatever dignity you have left."

As if on cue, the heavy doors of the boardroom opened, and two FBI agents stepped inside, handcuffs gleaming in the fluorescent light. Gerald Whitmore, once the king of Chicago, stood up slowly, his shoulders slumped, as his wrists were bound in steel.

As he was led away, he looked at Ethan. "Where are they?"

"Safe," Ethan replied. "Where you can never touch them again."
