Chapter 9 - A New DawnSix months later.

The cold winter had long since melted away, replaced by the bright, warm green of a Boston summer. The syndicate had been dismantled from the inside out, its corrupt elements purged and turned over to the federal task force. Damon Cross had completely restructured his empire, transitioning every single asset into legitimate, legal real estate and logistics companies.
The name Cross was no longer whispered in terror behind closed doors. It was respected in the open.
At the Boston General Hospital, the private maternity wing was quiet and filled with the scent of fresh white lilies.
Damon stood outside the glass window of the nursery, his hands in his pockets, a quiet, peaceful smile on his face. Inside, sleeping peacefully in a small plastic bassinet, was a healthy, beautiful baby boy with bright, curious eyes and a tuft of dark hair.
The door to the recovery room opened, and Adriana walked out, supported by a nurse. She looked radiant, her skin warm and healthy, her eyes filled with a peace she hadn't known in years.
"He looks just like him, doesn't he?" she whispered, standing beside Damon and looking at her son.
"He does," Damon said, his voice thick with emotion. "He has Eli's nose. And his stubborn chin."
Adriana turned to him, her hand reaching out to take his. "We decided on a name, Damon. I want you to hear it first."
"What is it?"
May you like
"Eli Damon Voss," she said softly.
Damon looked down at her, his heart swelling with a feeling he had never allowed himself to experience before: hope. The dark, bloody past had finally been laid to rest, and in its place, a new life had begun.
