Chapter 10 - The Rebirth of the MansionTwo Years Later

The grand mansion of the Villareal family, which had once been the scene of one of the most scandalous, violent nights in Guadalajara's history, had been completely transformed. The heavy, dark draperies, the suffocating atmosphere of old money, and the ghosts of betrayal had been purged entirely.
The walls were now painted in bright, warm tones, decorated with vibrant contemporary Mexican art. The grand arched windows were thrown wide open, allowing the scent of blooming jacarandas and the golden sunlight to flood the marble corridors.
Today, the mansion was filled with people once again, but the guest list was entirely different. There were no corrupt politicians or arrogant real estate moguls looking for favors. Instead, the house was filled with real friends, dedicated colleagues, doctors from the children's fund, and the smiling family members of Mariela.
It was the morning of a new dawn.
In the master suite, Mariela stood before a tall mirror. She wore a breathtaking white wedding gown made of delicate lace, her dark hair pinned up with fresh white orchids. She looked radiant, a woman who had fought through the mud of humiliation and emerged as a queen of her own destiny.
Her mother adjusted the long, flowing veil, weeping tears of pure happiness. "You are beautiful, my love. A true angel. Your father would be so proud if he were here today."
Leo, now a tall, handsome teenager looking sharp in a tailored grey suit, walked into the room, a massive grin on his face. "Time to go, big sis. The groom is downstairs, and I think he’s about to pass out from nervousness. I’ve never seen the great Don Alejandro look so terrified."
Mariela laughed, her heart fluttering with an exquisite excitement. "Let’s not keep him waiting then."
As she walked down the grand curved staircase—the very same staircase Alejandro had descended two years ago to save her—she looked down into the center of the hall.
Alejandro stood there, looking magnificent in a classic black tuxedo. When he raised his eyes and saw her coming down toward him, his breath visibly caught. The man who had faced down multi-billion-dollar corporate conspiracies and international syndicates without blinking had tears shining in his eyes.
He stepped forward, extending his hand to her as she reached the final step.

"You are the most beautiful sight I have ever seen," Alejandro whispered, his voice trembling with an emotion so profound it shook her to the core.
"And you are my home, Alejandro," Mariela replied softly, her fingers interlocking with his.
